PRESS RELEASE - The management of Jubilee Trading Ltd. and officials from the National Workers Union (NWU) met at the Department of Labour on Friday, April 11, 2014.
The meeting, held under the chairmanship of Acting Labour Commissioner Ray Narcisse, dealt with a number of complaints lodged by the NWU, accusing the company of taking decisions that go against the grain of our industrial relations practice and principles and our labour legislation.
The meeting was quite cordial and productive with the parties agreeing to meet again on Monday, April 14, 2014 to deal with the following:
* Withdrawal of all redundancy letters issued to workers
* Compensating workers for commissions and other entitlements
* Revisiting and implementing the industrial protocol as agreed to in December 2013
The NWU told the meeting that the company must respect the laws and workers of Saint Lucia and desist from its anti-worker tendencies.
