Furniture, appliance and electrical superstore Courts has pledged continued support as title sponsor of the second annual Rise St. Lucia Film Festival.
The Rise Youth Film Festival was conceptualised by filmmaker Colin Weekes and by Rise (St. Lucia) Inc, a non-profit organisation founded by Dr. Stephen King and Dr. Jacqueline Bird.
The festival is geared at providing an avenue for young persons who want to express themselves creatively through film, providing them with life skills through workshops, group participation and project-building initiatives.
This year, young and budding filmmakers, actors and actresses can look forward to even more amazing prizes from the title sponsor for the festival. In addition to prizes being awarded in the top three placements, an award will be presented for best screenplay, best actress and actor, most aspiring youth (under 13) and people’s choice.
In total, eight prizes will be awarded to the winners of the various categories. Prizes range from flat screen LCD TV’s, laptops, digital cameras, 16GB Tablet and a music system.
With our firm support, as well as the support of other businesses, it is our hope that this festival will rise to realize its fullest potential both nationally and internationally.
