Digicel says 100 per cent service has now been restored on its network.
“The network remained fully operational in the north of the island throughout the heavy rains and winds. There was some damage done to sites in Soufriere which impacted the service of customers in Soufriere and Choiseul; however the Digicel technicians, dispatched at dawn on Christmas day, worked assiduously to restore service to those communities,” the company said.
” Early Thursday morning, the Digicel network was at 100 per cent full service throughout the island.”
The company said it is currently working with the St Lucia Red Cross to provide assistance to 2,000 affected households in the communities of Canaries, Anse La Raye, Vieux Fort and Bexon.
“A container with over 1,000 cases of water, each containing six 1.5 litre bottles, was delivered by Digicel to the St Lucia Red Cross on Thursday,” Digicel said. “Food, cleaning agents, bedding and medical supplies will also be delivered to the Red Cross for distribution to the aforementioned communities. In addition, complimentary mobile credit was given to the Red Cross organisation to assist with their communications while coordinating the relief efforts around the island.”
