PRESS RELEASE -
The National Workers Union (NWU) has written to the Minister of Labour, Hon. Robert K. Lewis requesting his intervention into a discovered industrial discrepancy by two major companies on the island.

The letter from the National Workers Union, dated February 4, 2015, informed the Minister that the NWU undertook an investigation which revealed that two (2) major companies operating on the island were not paying overtime compensation to their employees.

The letter went on to point out that time and one half, double time and triple time pay during week days, Sundays and Public Holidays were not being honoured.

The NWU believes that it is unfair to hunt down small businesses operating in the country for overtime payments due to workers, while these two major companies operating right under our nostrils are allowed to continue this industrial lawlessness.

The NWU is awaiting a positive response from the Minister Robert Lewis, bearing in mind that these industrial atrocities are happening under his watch.

The letter was copied to Mr. Ray Narcisse, Acting Labour Commissioner and the Regional Director of the ILO.
