PRESS RELEASE – Saint Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) is 50 years old!
The electricity company observes the milestone anniversary on Tuesday, July 1, 2014.
LUCELEC Managing Director Trevor Louisy says the occasion is a cause for celebration and reflection, a time to “celebrate what we have accomplished, yes, but also to reflect on what lies ahead, regroup, and prepare ourselves for the next 50 years.”
The LUCELEC managing director adds, as significant a milestone as this is, in commemorating the occasion, the company is mindful of the current operating environment.
“We have spent the last 50 years powering lives, dreams and communities…powering the nation’s success; and not just the nation’s, but our lives, our dreams, our communities, our success. We understand and embrace the responsibility we have and as we observe this anniversary we are cognisant of the current economic environment, the challenges facing the country and the company, and we are doing so with an eye on the future,” he noted.
Activities in observance of the LUCELEC anniversary will be held during the second half of this year.
LUCELEC was established under the commercial code in 1964, borne out of the consolidation of small electric companies across the country. Since its creation, the company has expanded its facilities island-wide, and has grown to become regarded as a best practice, model company, with a strong emphasis on customer service, innovation, employee development and social and economic development.
