(PRESS RELEASE) – The 2020 Entrepreneurship World Cup is open and currently accepting applications!
The programme offers a chance to pitch on a global stage for a share of US$1 million in cash prizes plus additional investment opportunities and another US$75 million worth of in-kind support. The deadline to apply is Sunday, July 12, 2020.
The Entrepreneurship World Cup is an initiative of the Misk Global Forum, Global Entrepreneurship Network, and the Global Education and Leadership Foundation, backed by a broad collection of entrepreneurial support organizations and strategic partners.
EWC is aiming to exceed 102,000 contestants from 187 countries which was the record for its first year, so Saint Lucians are welcomed to apply through EWC St. Lucia (EWC SLU).
SLUDTERA is the official national organizer for Saint Lucia and the organization is pleased to announce its official national partners. Invest Saint Lucia (ISL) is the national co-organizer for Saint Lucia and Edge Marketing Inc. is on board as the national promoter for Saint Lucia.
In addition, partners and sponsors include Advanced Intellectual Methods (AIM), The Cut Buddy, Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), Saint Lucia Development Bank (SLDB) and HannaFitz.com. The team will be engaging additional partners in the coming weeks, in order to plan and execute Entrepreneurship World Cup St. Lucia (EWC SLU).
SLUDTERA, in partnership with ISL, will hold the competitions in Saint Lucia throughout July and August. On July 29, 2020 one winner per category will be chosen as finalists via a preliminary competition, and on August 12, 2020, a winner will be selected from a national competition. The winner will receive structured support and direct mentorship through EWC Accelerates while preparing for a chance to be among the EWC 100 that will compete in the global finals in October 2020.
EWC Accelerates is a virtual training and mentorship program that helps entrepreneurs hone their skills and increase their chances of winning and growing their business. The EWC online platform also offers all contestants who complete their applications access to more than US$25,000 in perks from partners such as Google Cloud, Hubspot, Stripe, and more. There is no fee for entry.
The eligibility requirements are as follows:
– Any startup throughout Saint Lucia is welcomed to apply and become an applicant
– Applicant(s) must be legally registered or planning to register in their country of residence
– Applicant(s) must be less than five years old at the date of the global finals (October 2020)
– Employees of the organizers, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotional agencies, suppliers and immediate family members are not eligible to participate in the competition
