Courts St. Lucia continues to donate much needed items to persons affected by the recent Christmas Eve trough.
A total of 60 mattresses were distributed across the communities of Bexon, Anse La Raye and Canaries on Friday, January 10 to victims identified by Red Cross.
These persons were left in dire need of mattresses since the mud and silt from the flooding left theirs in deplorable condition. The mattresses were well received as persons thanked the company and continued to expressed their gratitude openly.
This donation comes just two weeks after the company’s first donation of 24 mattresses, groceries and water to residents in Bexon and Canaries.
Friday’s trip to the communities saw Courts employees all volunteering their time to help the cause. The team, accompanied by Red Cross representatives from the various communities, met with each of the victims – all eager to tell all of their experiences during the trough and the struggles cleaning up their homes and communities after.
The day was filled with stories of hardship caused as a result of the devastation that left most of them homeless and in need of further assistance. Families displaced, homes completely destroyed and the loss of personal possessions highlights the ongoing situation in Anse La Raye, Bexon and Canaries.
The company’s total donation of over 80 mattresses to the victims came at a crucial period when sleeping comfort is of paramount concern to the displaced. Staff were not left without the support as those affected were visited by the Human Resource Department, giving assistance in the form of beds, appliances and groceries.
“As corporate leaders our goal is to improve the quality of life of our employees, their families and the communities where we operate, through programmes and initiatives that will assist in the overall development of St. Lucia. Courts Bringing Value Home,” Courts said.
