Coronavirus: Services suspended at Civil Status Registry

(PRESS RELEASE) – The Department of Justice (DOJ) continues to monitor and follow the protocols issued by the Ministry of Health in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In this regard, the DOJ in an effort to maintain the established guidelines and keep our customers and employees safe, the Department has suspended the services at the Civil Status Registry as it relates to application, rectification and collection of Vital Records until April 6, 2020.

Registration of death records

The registration of death records will continue electronically via email for all districts. Health care facilities and medical practitioners issuing “Medical Certificate of Cause of Death” are encouraged to forward a copy of the “Medical Certificate of Cause of Death” to the specific email address listed below. Informants and/or applicants requesting registration of death records should also submit their requests by e-mail.

On receipt of the relevant documentation, a copy of the death certificate along with the permit to bury will be issued electronically via email to status officers and funeral homes to facilitate burial of the deceased.

Below are the email addresses assigned for registration of deaths occurring in the various districts across Saint Lucia:

Request for Urgent Application for Vital Records

Applicants currently residing in Saint Lucia may forward requests for only urgent applications (along with supporting documentation detailing the reasons for urgency) to the email addresses listed below:

civilstatus.applications@govt.lc

civilstatus.collections.govt.lc

Overseas applicants can continue to submit their applications for vital records to the following email addresses:

civilstatusregistry@gmail.com

civil.status@govt.lc

All urgent requests for registration and application for vital records must be submitted via email along with a completed application form. Please request a copy of the form via email.
