Labour Department to meet former Hylyne Poultry workers to resolve grievances

(PRESS RELEASE) – The Labour Department wishes to invite the former workers of Hylyne Poultry Farm Limited to an urgent meeting necessary to verify a submission made by representative of the new owners regarding the lengths of service and termination packages of the former staff.

This meeting is scheduled for Friday March 6, 2020 from 1pm at the Labour Department. Following the review of the submissions and consultation with the affected workers, the Labour Department hopes to outline the process to amicably resolve the outstanding grievances.

The Office of Labour Commissioner appeals to the former Hyline Poultry staff to attend Friday`s meeting. Every effort will also be made to contact the workers and their representatives to inform of the next step.

The Acting Labour Commissioner Mrs Cornelia Jn. Baptiste, again reassure the affected workers and general public that this matter will be resolved in accordance with Saint Lucia`s Labour Laws and in the best interest of maintaining a cordial industrial climate.

A further statement from the Labour Department on the matter will be made subsequent to Friday`s meeting.
