Methodist Church committee gears up to host regional meeting

Plans are nearing completion for the hosting of the South Caribbean District Council Meeting of the Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the Americas carded for St Lucia from January 15-22, 2014.

A committee headed by Tanya Warner and including the Superintendent Minister Rev. Philbert S. Delaney, has been working feverishly to get things in place for the meeting which will be held at Casa de la Vega at Vigie.

Headed by the District President, Rev. Dr. Cuthbert A. Edwards from the James Street/Speightstown Circuit in Barbados, approximately 45 delegates are also coming from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago to attend the religious forum.

Also in attendance will be the Connexional President Rev. Otto O. Wade from the Conference Headquarters in Antigua.

Apart from church affairs, the conference is expected to discuss some of the burning social issues facing the region at this time.

The highlight of this South Caribbean District gathering will be the ordination to the sacred Ministry of the Rev. Tanya Conliffe of James Street/Speightstown Circuit in Barbados. This will take place at the Castries Methodist Church on Sunday, January 19 at 4:30 p.m.

Additionally, other special worship services are as follows:

Trial services for three trainee ministers on Wednesday January 15 at – Castries Methodist Church 6:00 p.m:

-Rev. Phyllis Brathwaite – North Trinidad Circuit; Gros Islet Methodist Church 6:30 p.m.

-Rev. Alison Carter – James Street/Speightstown Circuit in Barbados and Forestiere Methodist Church 7:30 p.m. Rev. Eve Lorde – Tobago Circuit.

-Open-Air Services – Thursday January 16 and Friday January 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Forestiere Community by Rev. Adolf Davis of the James Street/Speightstown Circuit in Barbados.

-Monday January 20 and Tuesday January 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Ciceron community Rev. Derick Richards of the South Trinidad Circuit.

All worship services are opened to the general public, and the Methodist Church extends a cordial invitation to all who desire to attend.
