NWU saves 100 CARIMAN jobs

(PRESS RELEASE) – After months of tripartite conversations which included the National Workers Union (NWU), GOWANDA LLC has purchased all the assets of Caribbean Manufacturing Ltd (CARIMAN).

CARIMAN Ltd has operated in the Vieux Fort Industrial Free Zone for about forty (40) years and has a work force of one hundred (100) workers which include line staff and Management.

The Agreement is:

 All one hundred (100) workers will be absorbed by GOWANDA LLC.
 All legal entitlements of the workers will be met.
 The existing industrial agreement between the National Workers Union (NWU) and the former company CARIMAN Ltd will be bought over by the new company and extended by the NWU for one (1) year.

The NWU is satisfied with the arrangements especially in relation to the future of the employees. The NWU also wishes to salute the former company through its General Manager Mr. Paul Williams for its economic contribution to Vieux Fort over these many years.

The NWU will be meeting with the new company soon at its base in Vieux Fort to chart the industrial relations path.
