The contract was signed on Tuesday

(SNO) – A contract has been signed and works are expected to begin on the Micoud Wellness Center within days.

The contract was signed Tuesday afternoon.

“This is a project which is well overdue and had previously started in 1992 when then Prime Minister Sir John Compton initiated this much needed facility,” Prime Minister Allen Chastanet said.

He explained that the project is being done under the Disaster Vulnerability Reduction Project (DVRP) which is being financed by the World Bank and went through the Tendering process which ended in September 2019.

“The construction of the Micoud Wellness Centre will alleviate the inconvenience which the people of Micoud North have had to endure and will provide improved services to the constituency and environs,” Chastanet stated. “An improvement in the physical structure and services will also encourage persons to seek health care in the community in which they live rather than seeking a more costly alternatives at the Hospitals.”

The Prime Minister said that he looks forward to the timely completion of the project and he thanked the people of Micoud North who he said have shown remarkable patience for many years.

The contract was signed between the government of Saint Lucia and Mega Contracting Inc.
