(PRESS RELEASE) – The National Apprenticeship Programme (N.A.P), within the Office of the Prime Minister has engaged in a partnership with the Soufriere Regional Development Foundation and the Office of the District Representative extended invitations to all young persons who shared an interest in seeking employment from the cruise sector to a meeting on Monday, 16th December, 2019. The key purpose of meeting was to provide guidelines to interested individuals on the manner in which they can utilize the services being provided by the above-mentioned collaboration in their quest to obtain employment opportunities within the cruise sector.
Mr. Roger Winter, Project Officer attached to N.A.P stated that his programme has been responsible for ensuring that persons receive sufficient training which would, in turn, facilitate their acceptance to work into the hospitality industry and also on various cruise lines. He went on further to express enormous delight at the level of attendance and participation that he witnessed at the above event.
Ndela “Sensie” Nicholas, a resident of Soufriere and an attendee remarked that she was extremely elated that this initiative had arrived in Soufriere. The significance of such, she continued, was underscored by the fact that there is a need to increase employment opportunities for young people within the town.
For its part, the Soufriere Regional Development Foundation’s Representative, Johnson Simon, has pledged to continue to further demonstrate his organizations policy of providing support to the people of Soufriere.
The Soufriere Foundation is a non-profit company located in Soufriere. Its mandate is to undertake social, cultural, human resource, tourism and infrastructure development in the Soufriere area. The organization which was established in 1993 generates revenues from its operational sites: the Sulphur Springs Park, Gros Piton Nature Trail, Comfort Center, Soufriere jetties and 88.5 Soufriere FM.
