Clik here to view.(PRESS RELEASE) – Mr. Virgil Burke, Shop Steward at Water & Sewerage Company (WASCO) Branch in Vieux Fort, a division of the National Workers Union left Saint Lucia for Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago over the weekend.
While in the twin island Republic Mr. Burke will join over thirty-five (35) other participants from Government, Employers and Trade Union organizations in a five (5) day workshop sponsored by the International Labour Organization (ILO) Decent Work Team and Office for the Caribbean.
The Training Workshop will focus on “Building Resilience through Public Employment Programmes”. It is being organized as part of a targeted programme of Technical Assistance for a Just Transition to environmentally sustainable economies in the context of climate change adaptation in the region. It is anticipated that the training methodology will be highly participatory and practical in nature.
Countries invited to participate are Saint Lucia, Dominica, Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago. The workshop runs from December 16 – 20, 2019.
