Chamber AGM – Regional and national perspective of St. Lucia’s economy to be discussed next week

(PRESS RELEASE) – The St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture will host its 135th Annual General meeting on Wednesday 27th November, 2019 at the Sandals Halcyon Beach Hotel commencing at 9:00AM.

Chamber Members will be provided with two perspectives on ‘The St. Lucia Economy 2020 and Beyond’. The first will come from the Ministry of Finance, Government of St. Lucia and the other from the Caribbean Development Bank.

Presentations will be followed by a Question and Answer, and discussion session as members will be most interested in understanding the 2020 and beyond Economic prospects for St. Lucia and the critical implications for the future projections of the economy.

Many businesses look forward to getting a perspective on the economy’s performance and forecast and the AGM conversation will highlight the key data and issues that impact and affect the country’s economic prospects.

This Open Session will be followed by the President’s address that Ms. Karen Peter will deliver having served a first term as President. Chamber Presidents are expected to serve a minimum of two, one – year terms and Ms. Peter will be making herself available to uphold that tradition.

While all members of the Board also serve one year terms, they are all eligible for reelection and have indicated their willingness and availability to serve another year.

The Auditor’s Report as the Executive Director’s Report, will also be presented during the closed session of the meeting.

The Chamber’s Executive Director will be reporting positive outcomes on targets set by the Board including successful delivery of services to members via member engagement, luncheons, seminars, training programs and most of all advocacy and dialogue with the key public sector officials.
