(PRESS RELEASE) – Fond Doux Plantation & Resort was awarded the 2019 Americas’ Most Eco-Friendly Hotel at the prestigious World Boutique Hotel Awards ceremony held at the Merchant Taylors’ Hall, London on November 6, 2019.
The Boutique Hotel Awards is the first and only international awards organization exclusively dedicated to recognizing unique excellence among boutique hotels.
The Awards, now in its ninth year, honors the people behind these outstanding properties and brings together members of The Master Key Society where relationships are built exclusively among the award winners by facilitating hotel exchange visits between them.
This year’s keynote speech was delivered by Maureen O’Hare, travel expert and CNN journalist.
Maureen is a senior digital producer for CNN Travel. She commissions, edits and writes travel news and features from around the world for CNN’s global audience of millions. She has more than 15 years’ experience in digital media, working for organizations including Microsoft and the BBC.
“Thank you to Boutique Hotel Awards for recognizing our commitment to sustainability, the preservation of our rich Saint Lucian history, culture and heritage and our vanguard work here as we strive to eliminate single-use plastics,” says Executive Director Eroline Lamontagne.
The winners were selected from over 300 nominees in over 80 countries. Each entrant was nominated by a member of the Awards Nomination Committee, comprising 70 leading trailblazing travel experts, whose business it is to be ‘in the know’ concerning the extraordinary boutique hotels.
Managing Director of Fond Doux Plantation & Resort, Lyton Lamontagne, also added: “These awards are a reflection of the hard work and dedication of the Fond Doux team.”
He went on to say that “our goal is to operate in an environmentally friendly manner while not inconveniencing our guests and company policy”.
The ceremony brought together an array of boutique hotel owners, travel and lifestyle press, and travel industry influencers from all four corners of the globe.
