(SNO) — A pitching competition, which gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to showcase their businesses before hundreds of investors, is set to take place on March 28, 2019.

Get in the Ring (GITR) Saint Lucia is being organized by the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture.

“Imagine yourself, standing in a boxing ring, battling in a pitching competition, head-to-head with other business competitors with your fans cheering and growing your investment potential,” the Chamber said in a statement, in describing the event.

It said the competition is open to start-ups with an innovative and scale-able business idea, launched less than eight years, and who can pitch fluently in English.

“Start-ups in robotics, software engineering, agriculture or other sectors are welcomed to participate, however the preference is for start-ups that are aiming to make a positive impact in this world,” the Chamber stated.

It said the event is a year-one for the Global Startup Competition of the Get in the Ring Foundation, which challenges entrepreneurs to show what they have to offer in an actual ring.

“In 2017, GITR St. Lucia was a tremendous success with over 26 start-ups registering for the event, with six advancing to the national finals,” the organization said. “In the end, Mr. Patrick Eze of Eze Green Energy Company emerged winner and won an all-expense paid trip to Cascais, Portugal to participate in the international battle.”

The St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture said the event is not only about winning “it’s also an extensive, exciting and educative process to perfect your pitch and receive feedback from experts”.

“You also participate in one-on-one pre-matched speed consulting sessions with business leaders, financial consultants and investors, and discover business opportunities. Subsequently, you will pitch for a spot on the main stage of the selection event before an experienced jury, and advance to the final battle to compete for a ticket to the global finals where you will receive global exposure and contacts through a network in over a hundred countries,” it said.

The Chamber is now calling interested participants, mentors, volunteers and sponsors who wants to participate in the event to call 452-3165 or email gewslu@gmail.com for more information.
