The Ministry of Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport (MIPSAT) has noted the increasing trend of road fatalities on Saint Lucia’s roads over the past few years.
To date, despite repeated calls for caution and safety, 22 lives have been tragically lost in 2013, the ministry said.
As such, the ministry has called for a meeting to be chaired by Phillip J Pierre, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport with the various stakeholders including the Insurance Council, the Road Transport Board and the Traffic Department of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force to discuss the trends of road fatalities in the country.
This meeting will be held on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. in the ministry’s conference room, Union. The ministry has also invited the National Taxi Union, National Council on Public Transportation and the Saint Lucia Fire and Emergency Services to this all important meeting.
