Campari Brand manager Denver Alcee with Dennery Segment champs Mighty & Subance

(PRESS RELEASE VIA SNO) – Performers Mighty & Subance are currently in the US, flying the flag high for Saint Lucia and the popular Dennery Segment music.

The Dennery Soca Monarch winners and Soca Switch Champions have been experiencing a good season so far, riding on the popularity of their 2017 hit “Bad in Bum Bum” and now “Two Clap.” The artistes, as well as their genre of music in general, have been receiving some level of support from Campari, Saint Lucians favorite bittersweet red aperitif.

Campari in fact, sponsored the championship belt for the Dennery Segment at the annual Soca Switch Competition, for the second year running and the competition overall, put on by “Just 4 Fun” Carnival band, was endorsed and sponsored by Campari.

“Soca Switch”, the annual Soca Competition, which jumpstarts the Soca season for Saint Lucia’s carnival, according to Denver Alcee Brand Manager for Campari; “is a good platform to nurture new talent and to embrace the soca music of the future”. “Hence the reason why from last year we took a decision to embrace the Dennery Segment and to support it at this event and since then we have seen the growth of the music to the extent that it is now accepted internationally,” Alcee says.

“Soca Switch 4” was held this year at Coconutz in Rodney Bay on Saturday May 19 and featured two components, with EC$40,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs.

The first segment Soca, featured Sergie, Crown, Imran Nerdy & Saveion, Kisha, Mighty, Mysterio, Private 6 and Shemmy J. The second segment, the Dennery Segment, featured Bruno, Freezy, Kiki, Kisha (featuring Mata), Mighty and Subance, Blackboy & Big Sea and Top Cat.

The Soca segment was won by Kisha with her “Vaval Vibes” with newcomer Crown coming in second with “Don’t Spoil My Day”. And, the Dennery Segment saw last year’s champs “Mighty & Subance” retaining the Campari belt with their song “Two Clap.”

Since then Campari has launched its “Come Together” campaign and this year’s Campari Week which runs from June 22-30 will embrace the campaign. This, as the enchanting experience of Campari Cocktails are presented during the week, along with exciting activations to enthuse the consumers at various locations. “Festen Labowi” in Laborie on Friday June 29, is among one of the many activities that will see the roll out of the Campari Week engagement.

Campari will also be leveraging its support for all of the community carnivals this year, including Dennery Carnival, which culminates the weekend June 29-July 1, 2018. The brand’s new campaign theme “Come Together” will be fully embraced as the national festivities and the community carnivals explode in a kaleidoscope of colour, intrigue and passion, evoking the essence of Campari itself.
