The Soufriere Regional Development Foundation (SRDF) continues to make strides in fulfilling its corporate responsibility by ensuring that its mandate and vision to be a financially viable organization contributing toward the development of the community is achieved.
On Friday, June 9th, 2017, the organization held a donation ceremony to formally present financial aid and support to a cross section of institutions and individuals in the community.
The significance of this ceremony was predicated on the organization’s performance over the last four months and its ability to actively enhance the scope of development and economic wellbeing of Soufriere.
Beneficiaries of donations in excess of $90,000.00 included the Soufriere Hospital, Fond St Jacques Development Committee, the Soufriere Events Committee and Soufriere Primary School to name a few.
According to Executive Director, Jimmy Haynes, “There are exciting times ahead for the SRDF, our intent is to see a doubling of our revenue over the next two years to sufficiently service the disbursement of a wider scope of financial support to the community.”
Mr. Haynes further added that giving back to the community was a staple of the organization, and financial support for medical aid and other requests are usually paid on a weekly basis after careful vetting and appropriate substantiation.
In delivering a vote of thanks during the ceremony, Chairperson of the Fond St. Jacques Development Committee, Sandra Prospere, lauded the organization’s unwavering commitment to ease financial burdens in the community and urged the SRDF to maintain its reputation as a stellar institution.
The SRDF has paid out total of $200, 00.00 in donations for 2017.
The Soufriere Foundation is a non-profit company located in Soufriere. Its mandate is to undertake social, cultural, human resource, tourism and infrastructure development in the Soufriere area.
The organization which was established in 1993 generates revenues from its operational sites: the Sulphur Springs Park, Gros Piton Nature Trail, Comfort Center, Soufriere jetties and 88.5 Soufriere FM.
