PRESS RELEASE – On Tuesday, 23rd August, 2016, Bay the Gardens Resorts awarded scholarships to five students whose parents are employees of the locally owned and operated resort chain.
The ceremony was held at the Ixora conference centre at the Bay Gardens Inn with students, parents, media and the management team in attendance. Bursaries were awarded to continuing students who maintained a passing average above 70% at their last school examinations (Gibba Edwards, daughter of Tricia Joseph– fifth form student, and Ashlyn Theodore – daughter of Anice O’Neil, both from the St. Joseph’s Convent).
New entrants, Nashawn Anthony, daughter of Cregg Anthony, (St. Joseph’s Convent), Leslie Edwards, daughter of Anasthasie Dosithee (Castries Comprehensive) and Jamil James, son of Knishnal James (Castries Comprehensive), were awarded first time bursaries for their noteworthy performances at the Common Entrance Examination. All awardees were also granted two complimentary passes to the ultimate aquatic playground, Splash Island Water Park.
Featured speaker, Sanovnik Destang – Executive Director of Bay Gardens Resorts, praised the students who maintained their scholarship over years. The new recipients were advised to keep focused, as the next five years will be fun yet challenging. Destang pledged the continued support of Bay Gardens Resorts toward this cause that is near to the hearts of the Board of Directors and management of the company.
