PRESS RELEASE – The year 2015 was eventful for France and for its cooperation in the Caribbean and more specifically St. Lucia. The conference on climate change held in Paris in December 2015 was a great success and the results obtained for Island states are much more significant than the previous 20 conferences.

This is due largely to the commitment of Caribbean countries themselves, under the leadership of Saint Lucian negotiator for CARICOM, Dr James Fletcher. This year will be marked by the implementation of projects in the field of sustainable development, in line with the Paris conference.

On July 5th 2016 in Barbados, the Ambassador signed the funding of 30 million USD by the French Development Agency with the Caribbean Development Bank for projects of this type. Saint Lucia will of course benefit based on its plans. The year 2015 was also marked by the first activities carried out by the OECS Commission with Martinique since joining as an associate member.

This is to develop and strengthen relations in many areas such as adaptation to climate change, trade, economy and culture,… We look forward to working with the new government and meet its demands which will be submitted to France, either directly or through the European Union.

Finally, as done throughout the world, French Embassies are organizing their national day reception under the theme “Creative France” to showcase the innovations brought by the French companies operating abroad. That is why the Bernard Hayot Group (GBH) will be honored during the reception at the official French residence.

The CEO himself, Bernard Hayot, will have the opportunity to speak at this occasion. His group has indeed acquired the “Saint Lucia Distillers”, which is a remarkable implementation of this major French industrial group in Saint Lucia. GBH is not only characterized by the search for creativity in the development of its iconic products, but also for its respect for the environment. It also seeks to allocate a portion of its profits to social activities and cultural promotion. “
