Canada’s High Commissioner designate Richard Hanley visited Saint Lucia to present his Letter of Introduction to Prime Minister, Dr. Kenny Anthony.

Hanley gave his assurance of Canada’s continued support in Saint Lucia by explaining that Canada will continue to improve upon the already harmonious relationship between our two countries by working closely with Saint Lucia to increase its economic prosperity, improve security and strengthen cooperation.

“Canada and Saint Lucia have a long-standing relationship. We have been good friends over the years. We have economic ties, family ties, academic exchanges and deep people to people engagement.”

Canada continues to support projects in St. Lucia through the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives such as the Saint Lucia Development Bank’s Youth Enterprise Equity Fund. This project works towards training young entrepreneurs to understand the components of an accounting system.

While in St. Lucia, High Commissioner Hanley will also attend the graduation ceremony of the Regional Security System Supervisory Management Course, an initiative funded by the government of Canada to provide law enforcement officers with the skills and knowledge to function as efficient supervisors.

Canada will continue to work with Saint Lucia, as friends, toward a more prosperous and secure hemisphere.
