PRESS RELEASE – The Government has delayed the lowering of Corporate Income Tax as announced in the 2014/2015 Budget Address.
Meanwhile significant changes have been announced for Personal Income Tax which was expected to come into effect in 2016.
The Chamber has noted a level of tax creep which has been occurring over the years as Government seeks to address its budget deficit. The Chamber has argued for a broad, comprehensive and structured Corporate Tax Review process which will locate tax policy as a strategic component of St. Lucia’s development goals and strategy.
The Business Community and Private Citizens, at least those who pay taxes, have spoken about the increasing tax burden and the unfairness of the current and some proposed changes. It is in this context that the Chamber is hosting this interesting and important discussion.
Panelists will speak on their firms experience and knowledge of the current corporate tax regime and present on suggestions of an improved and ideal corporate tax regime for Saint Lucia which would support business development while spurring national development and satisfying responsible tax liability and thus adequate and reasonable tax revenue for Government.
The “Encounter” will conclude with a “Next Steps Component” where action recommendations related to the subject at hand will be invited from the floor and each Panelist will be given an opportunity to advance three critical recommendations.
Panelists for this encounter are Mr. Frank Myers, Audit Partner-KPMG Eastern Caribbean, Mr. Richard Surage, Partner- Audit & Business Advisory Services, PKF – Saint Lucia and Mr. Rendra Gopee, Partner-Ernst & Young Services Ltd.
This Event will be held on Thursday April 7th 2016, from 5:30 p.m. at the Palmville Conference Room, Coco Palm Resorts.
The Encounter series is a Chamber Members Only event with limited seating. Members are therefore encouraged to reserve their seats by registering through the Chambers office.
