PRESS RELEASE – Du Boulay’s Bottling Co. Ltd has emerged with the largest trophy haul in the 3rd Biennial St Lucia Manufacturers Association Quality Awards 2016.

Its seven awards include four Diamonds, one Platinum along with the coveted Minister’s Award for Innovation and the highly prized Lawson Calderon Eco-Manufacturing Award.

Managing Director of Du Boulay’s Bottling Company Ltd, Dunstan Du Boulay says the Awards for Innovation and Eco-Manufacturing complements international certifications already secured by the company.

He says ‘DBCs relentless approach to energy conservation and environmental protection has paid off handsomely by recently being awarded ISO-14000 International Certification’ other local company has attained that certification.

DBC has invested over $2 million in a fully automated waste water treatment system, the only such plant to be established by a local manufacturer. All waste water is channeled into the plant and treated to internationally acceptable standards prior to disposal.

Because of its stringent water use reduction and energy conservation measures DBC has been rated among the top three bottling operations in the Coca-Cola Latin American Business Unit.

DBC has in recent months replaced old AC Units with more energy efficient ones, progressively swapped throughout the plant all fluorescent lights with LEDS and introduced electric forklift trucks with zero carbon emissions.

86% of all solid waste is recycled and the balance taken to the landfill where it is disposed in the prescribed manner. Hazardous waste is received in strictly monitored and rigidly controlled areas of the landfill.

The DBC Managing Director believes these measures and many other best practices establish the company as a leader in innovation and eco-manufacturing. DBC has also achieved the highest certifications in food safety and employee health and safety and these include HACCP, ISO-9001, FSSC-22001 in both packaging and manufacturing and OSHAS-18001.

DuBoulay says that the substantial investment in the latest state-of-the-art technology and the attainment of all these prestigious certifications make DBC a clear cut above the rest and being the only high capacity, world class beverage manufacturing facility in the OECS – DBC now enjoys the enviable position of becoming the supply point for the entire eastern Caribbean.

Its Eco-Manufacturing certification in addition to the other certifications has opened doors to major export markets including the United Kingdom. DBC’s consecutive win of the Minister’s Award for Innovation and the dominance of the Lawson Calderon Eco-Manufacturing Award is confirmation of its leadership position as a responsible corporate citizen.
