PRESS RELEASE – St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC)’s offices at Sans Souci will remain closed on Monday and Tuesday next week (March 14 &15). This is to allow the company to continue efforts to address suspected air quality issues in the building that led to its closure on Tuesday, March 8.
Since the closure, the Company has taken various measures to resolve the problem, including working with the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) to conduct a series of tests in the building.
LUCELEC’s Chief Engineer Goodwin d’Auvergne says the preliminary results of these tests are likely to be available on Monday afternoon and will provide guidance on the reopening of the building.
“The preliminary findings from CARPHA will determine if it is safe for staff to return to the building. If we’re given the all clear, staff will go in on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 to reorganise their work spaces so that we can return to normal administrative operations, and we hope to begin serving the public from our Sans Souci offices on Wednesday, March 16, 2016. If not, we will determine what additional measures need to be taken,” Mr. d’Auvergne explained.
In the meantime, he adds, the extended hours at the Company’s Rodney Bay office to ensure customers are not unduly inconvenienced will continue until 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2016. He notes that LUCELEC’s Soufriere and Vieux Fort offices are operating normally and are available to serve customers.
LUCELEC further advises that bill payments can also be made at Sure Pay outlets or via the financial institutions that offer that service. An automated service for customers to get their latest bill balance may be accessed by dialling 457-4433.
LUCELEC regrets any inconvenience caused to its customers and thanks them for their understanding.
