PRESS RELEASE – Miss Regina Pierre and Mr. Garvey Esnard, Shop Stewards from Sugar Beach Hotel in Soufriere and National Farmers & General Workers Cooperative Credit Union, both branches of the National Workers Union (NWU) will leave Saint Lucia on Sunday March 13, 2016 for Guadeloupe.
While in the French colony, the two will join trade union officials from the French, Dutch, Spanish and English speaking region to participate in a Regional Conference on International Labour Solidarity and Defense of the Trade Union Movement. This activity is being hosted by the Union Générale des Travailleurs de Guadeloupe (U.G.T.G.).
Participants will discuss the current status of the trade union movement and will produce a working document that would plot the way forward for the movement. The sessions are scheduled for March 15th -16th, 2016. The National Workers Union is an affiliate of the U.G.T.G.
