PRESS RELEASE – Managing Director of the Caribbean’s first ever open-water sports park, Splash Island Water Park, Mrs. Julianna Ward-Destang, successfully won the award for “Entrepreneur of the Year” at the 7th annual “Saint Lucia Business Awards”
This award, which was previously won in 2014 by Bay Gardens Resorts Managing Director and Owner, Mrs. Joyce Destang, celebrates an outstanding individual who demonstrates pioneering vision and leadership in respect of new investment, new product, new markets or new aspect of an existing business.
Mrs. Julianna Ward-Destang was truly grateful for the recognition she received and gave thanks to all the patrons, partners and staff of the park as well as her husband, Executive Director of Bay Gardens Resorts, Mr. Sanovnik Destang and her son, Antoine Destang for the support and inspiration, since opening in August 1st, 2015.
Sister company to Splash Island Water Park, Bay Gardens Resorts, also won the “Marketing Excellence Award” for the third time, totaling 15 nominations and 7 awards in 4 years for the family owned and operated company.
About Mrs. Julianna Ward Destang
Managing Director of Splash Island Water Park, Julianna Ward-Destang, is a Chartered Accountant by profession, and has spent the last decade plus gaining valuable business and finance experience first as a Senior Accountant at Deloitte and Touche in Canada, then as the Director of Finance for Bay Gardens Resorts where she helped engineer a dramatic turnaround in the family-owned resort chain’s fortunes in the aftermath of the great recession. Ever the innovator, Julianna conceptualized Splash Island in March of 2015 and along with her husband, Bay Gardens Resorts Executive Director, Sanovnik Destang, was able to make her dream of introducing the Caribbean’s first open-water sports park a reality on August 1, 2015
About Splash Island Water Park St. Lucia
Located on the Northwest coast of St. Lucia, on the popular Reduit Beach, Splash Island is the Caribbean’s first open-water sports park. Splash Island is located in front of the multi-award-winning Bay Gardens Beach Resort & Spa located in Rodney Bay Village, Gros Islet, St. Lucia and is an inflatable water park which kids, families and weekend warriors alike can enjoy the many obstacle-course style features. The park is manufactured by Wibit Sports GmBH a German watersports company who has been producing commercial grade inflatable water sports products for over 18 years and features include a trampoline, climbing wall, monkey bars, a swing, a slide, hurdles, double rocker, flip, and water volleyball.
